Toilets For Boats With Pump Out Tanks
Pump out toilets are an ever more popular option for boats on the inland waterways. They are similar to toilets on land with a proper flush and they don’t smell as bad as the cassette toilets. Pump out toilets are also easier to empty. Simply plug in a hose and let the pump do the dirty work. Self pump out kits can be bought, to use where no machine is available at the sanitary station or canal side facilities.

Pump out toilets for boats mainly come in two different types, which one you choose will depend on the set up of your boat. By this we mean the availability and capacity of fresh water and power supplies, as well as the available space for fitting toilet waste tanks. Our boat plumbing engineers can assess which option is best for your vessel.
– Drop Through Toilets
This toilet option is fitted directly on top of a pump out waste tank. A lever system is operated to let the waste fall trough into the tank. The upside of this set up is that it will still function if you have run out of water and / or power. The downside is that the pump out tank needs to be where the toilet is, which may limit it’s size. The other problem is that the toilet is fitted onto the tank with a seal. These often break which lets the smell escape. Changing the seal is a messy job which nobody likes to do.
– Macerator Toilets
The macerator pump option is our preferred way of fitting a pump toilet system to your boat. The toilet will fit straight onto the bathroom floor or wall / bulkhead. The built in macerator pump transfers the waste and the toilet flush water into a holding tank. The tank can be of any size and shape that suits the boat and it can be located anywhere it suits you. The pump out toilet tank is then connected to the outside via a skin fitting on the hull. This gives you convenient access at a pump out station or waterway facilities.

Our pump out toilet waste holding tanks are custom made to suit your boat. This enables us to install a tank with maximum capacity, to save you trips to the facilities. Please contact us for an estimate.
