Alde have been manufacturing compact LPG boilers for boats, caravans, and motorhomes since 1966.  Swedish manufacturer Alde have made many boilers over the years. The latest model is the Alde Compact 3030. This is a room-sealed appliance with hot water storage and a central heating boiler.

– Alde Compact 3030

The Alde Compact 3030 stores 10 litres of boiling hot water. This is then automatically mixed to safe temperatures to give you hot water at your tap or shower. In doing this the hot water supply is increased to 17 liters. This is then further mixed with cold water at your shower tap, to give you the temperature you feel most comfortable with. This LPG Alde boiler will also provide central heating for your boat via convector-style radiators.

In addition to the 6kw of power delivered by the LPG burners, this boiler has the option of using 3kw of electric heating elements. This will save LPG when you are on a shoreline supply or when you are making use of your solar cells via an inverter. This is however optional. When you are not at your mooring or have no access to a 240v supply, the boiler will work on LPG via a 12v supply.

– Alde Flow

The Alde Flow accessory turns the Alde Compact 3030 from a hot water storage type boiler into a continuous supply water heater. Ideal for longer showers, or if several people water to shower straight after each other.

The Alde flow increases the hot water supply of the Alde Compact 3030. When you are off the grid, and using LPG  and 12v only, it means you can have a slightly longer shower than with the boiler alone, and the waiting time to replenish your usual hot water supply decreases slightly. If you are supplying 240v from a shoreline or inverter, the Alde Flow will upgrade the boiler to continuous run. The graph below shows how the hot water supply changes with the Alde Flow and Alde Compact 3030 connected to LPG and 240v electricity.

Alde Compact 3030 – Optional extras:

  • Load Monitor – Prevents tripping out of the shoreline supply if on supply with limited amps on the supply
  • Option Dongle – Extends plug-in options to the circuit board. Required to connect some accessories, which cannot be plugged directly into the boiler circuit boat connections
  • Room Temperature Sensor – Additional room temperature sensors to create ‘heating zones’
  • Outdoor Temperature Sensor – A sensor to display the outside temperature on the boiler’s control panel
  • Battery Backup – Keeps the settings in you control board when you switch off the power to the boiler
  • Window Circuit Breaker Sensor – Required for flue terminals with 30cm of an openable window. Prevents exhaust gasses from entering the boat’s cabin, by cutting power to the boiler if the window near the exhaust flue is open
  • Thermostatic Mixing Valve With Emergency Shut Off – Mixes cold water into your hot water supply.  The hot water supply can be up to 80 degrees. Automatically mixing in cold water to a stable safe temperature will prevent scolding and saves hot water. An automated safety shut off is built-in if the cold water supply runs out and the hot water reaches unsafe temperature levels
