Refleks Stoves

ualified Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) examiner for inland waterway vessel inspections
Gas Safe Registered engineer for marine LPG gas installations and safety certificates
OFTEC certified technician for marine diesel heating and oil-fired appliance servicing

Refleks Boat Stoves have been the gold standard for maritime diesel heating since the 1950s, renowned for their legendary reliability and typical service life of over 30 years. These Danish-engineered vaporising diesel stoves are a global favourite for yachts, fishing boats, and narrowboats because they operate without electricity, making them the ultimate choice for off-grid cruising. With a sleek stainless steel, copper, or brass finish and a wide range of heat outputs from 0.5kW to 7.25kW, Refleks stoves combine classic maritime aesthetics with high-efficiency thermal performance.

Refleks Diesel Stoves: Unrivalled Reliability and Versatility

The Refleks stove range is designed to meet the diverse needs of the boating community, offering everything from compact floor-mounted models to space-saving bulkhead units. Many models can be equipped with back boilers or water-heating coils, allowing the stove to heat domestic hot water via a calorifier or power a radiator system. For maximum safety in rough conditions, optional thermocouples can be fitted to automatically shut off the oil supply if the flame is extinguished by high crosswinds. Whether you require a traditional viewing window to enjoy the flames or a “room-sealed” unit with a dedicated fresh air intake, Refleks provides a solution for every climate.

Expert Installation and BSS Compliance

Installing a vaporising diesel stove requires specialised knowledge of fuel flow and flue draught to ensure clean, efficient combustion. Our OFTEC-trained engineers have years of experience with Refleks boat stove installations, ensuring that every unit is fitted with a BSS-compliant flue kit. To understand the broader safety context for oil-fired appliances on boats, we recommend reviewing the OFTEC guide to domestic liquid fuel-fired heating and the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) fire safety hub.

Refleks Boat Stove Model Variations

When it comes to heating appliances on boats, the possibilities for individual needs and circumstances are endless. This is why Refleks Stoves come in many different variations.

  • Heat outputs range from 0.5kw to 7.25kw. The stoves can come with viewing windows or without.
  • There are water-heating coil and back-boiler options.
  • Some models can be bulkhead or floor-mounted.
  • Flues can be configured to exit the top or the rear of the appliance.
  • Oil control valves can be side or rear-mounted.
  • There is an option for fresh air intake. It can take combustion air from the outside via a duct. This allows the appliance to be “room-sealed.”
  • Thermocouples are available on some models. This will protect the stove in high crosswinds. If the flame is blown out, the thermocouple will shut off the oil supply. This action prevents the burner from being flooded.
  • Refleks Stoves come with stainless steel, copper, or brass finish.

Also available are Refleks “cold” stoves that have an insulated body and heat water only. This fully insulated range heats water or radiators only and does not give off heat into the cabin. These can be placed within cupboards. When used with an insulated internal flue, it will give off a light ambient heat. This creates an airing cupboard effect.
