Installation Only Service – How to Book an Install When You Supply Your Own Appliances

ualified Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) examiner for inland waterway vessel inspections
Gas Safe Registered engineer for marine LPG gas installations and safety certificates
OFTEC certified technician for marine diesel heating and oil-fired appliance servicing

If you’ve chosen to source your own appliance online to get the best price, you are in the right place.

We think taking this route is brilliant. Instead of marking up hardware, we prefer to focus on what we do best: expert, certified installation. It keeps things streamlined, saves you money, and means our advice is 100% unbiased. With no retail markups or sales targets to worry about, we only recommend what is genuinely best for your boat and your budget.

Here is how we make the entire process completely hassle-free for you.

Step 1: Contact Us First (The Assessment)

Before you click “buy” on an online shop, get in touch with us. We need to make sure the unit you are looking at is actually the right fit for your vessel and compliant with boat safety regulations.

We will book an assessment to look over the details. To keep things moving quickly, we can do most of it through an online meeting, or we can visit the boat in person if you prefer:

  • Diesel Systems & Solid Fuel Stoves: We can usually handle the entire assessment online using our existing system.
  • Brand New Gas (LPG) Installations: If there is no gas system on board your boat yet, we can also map this out online.
  • Existing Gas (LPG) Systems: For legal reasons, we cannot assess this online. If we are modifying or connecting to an existing gas setup, we must come to your boat and inspect it in person first to ensure the whole system is currently safe.

Step 2: Buy the Kit

Once we know what is needed for your installation, you buy the appliance online at the best price you can find.

Don’t sweat it if the standard “marine kit” you buy doesn’t contain every single clip or fitting for your specific boat layout. We carry a lot of common marine fittings, fuel lines, and filters right on the van. If we need to use a few extra bits and bobs on the day to make the job 100% compliant, we will just sort it then. If your kit has everything, there’s no extra charge.

That said, boats being boats, unexpected quirks do happen. If your layout throws up an unforeseen challenge and requires a fitting we don’t have on the van, we’ll source it for you (or tell you exactly what to buy) and book a return visit to finish the job.

Step 3: We Fit It

When your order has arrived and all parts are in place, we get you booked into the diary. We simply work to our standard hourly rate, and our usual travel charges apply depending on where your boat is located.

No hidden markups, no sales fluff—just straightforward, professional engineering to get your boat safely sorted.
