Gas Safe Registered engineer for marine LPG gas installations and safety certificates

OFTEC certified technician for marine diesel heating and oil-fired appliance servicing

For the year-round cruiser or live-aboard, a high-performance diesel heating system is the most critical component for on-board comfort and vessel preservation. By utilizing the boat’s primary fuel supply, these systems provide a safe, high-output alternative to LPG or solid fuel. Whether you require a forced-air system for rapid cabin warming or a hydronic “wet” system for domestic-style central heating and hot water, selecting an appropriately scaled marine heating solution is essential for maintaining a dry, condensation-free environment in the British climate.

The Specialist Difference: Professional Engineering vs. Standard Fitting

Diesel heating technology has advanced significantly, requiring more than just basic mechanical knowledge for a successful installation. Our approach focuses on technical efficiency and precision, ensuring your system is optimised for the specific volume and insulation properties of your vessel.

  • System Balancing: We ensure that ducting runs and radiator circuits are balanced to prevent back-pressure, which is the leading cause of premature glow-plug failure and carbon sooting.
  • Fuel Integrity: Professional installations utilise dedicated fuel pickups and marine-grade filtration, preventing the “fuel starvation” issues common when tapping into existing engine lines.
  • Acoustic Optimisation: By using premium silencers and weighted fuel pump mounts, we significantly reduce the “clicking” and exhaust roar associated with lower-quality installations.

We support the industry’s leading diesel heating brands, ensuring your hardware is matched to your lifestyle and vessel type:

Safety/Regulatory: OFTEC and Canal & River Trust (CRT)

Compliance with the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) is non-negotiable for any diesel installation. This includes the use of fire-resistant fuel lines and specific exhaust terminations to prevent the accumulation of Carbon Monoxide within the cockpit or cabin areas. All our installations are designed to meet Canal & River Trust (CRT) licensing requirements and international standards such as BS 8511.

We strongly advocate for all diesel systems to be commissioned by an OFTEC-registered technician. This ensures the fuel-to-air ratio is calibrated using a flue gas analyser, protecting your warranty and ensuring the heater runs cleanly without “smoking out” your neighbours in the marina.
