The Dickinson Atlantic is a top-tier marine diesel cooker, specifically engineered for larger live-aboard vessels ranging from 45 to 60 feet in length. As the most powerful model in the range, it serves as a robust central heating source and a high-capacity cooker for extensive offshore voyages.
Dickinson Atlantic: The Live-Aboard Powerhouse
The Dickinson Atlantic is distinguished by its impressive heat output, delivering between 2.4 kW and 7.1 kW. This makes it exceptionally effective at heating large cabins while simultaneously providing a professional-grade cooking and baking platform. Despite its high power, it remains efficient for its size, with fuel consumption ranging from 0.25 to 0.7 litres of diesel per hour.
A standard 12V draft assist fan is included to ensure optimal combustion efficiency, particularly during start-up. For a comprehensive marine heating solution, the Atlantic can be fitted with optional single or double-turn hot water coils (providing up to 2kW) to supply a hot water tank and central heating radiators.
Expert Installation and BSS Safety
Given its size and output, correct installation is critical for safety and performance. Our OFTEC-trained engineers specialise in Dickinson Atlantic diesel cooker installations, ensuring full compliance with Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) requirements. This model requires a minimum 6ft (maximum 8ft) chimney run; a straight 6ft run with no elbows is recommended for the best draft. A barometric damper is also required for runs of 6ft or more.
For additional technical resources, please refer to the Dickinson Marine Support Portal and the OFTEC consumer guide for liquid fuel appliances. We are currently offering free installation for our narrowboat cooker kits throughout the Winter 2025/2026 season.
Custom Kits and Certification
The Atlantic is available as a complete Narrowboat Kit (£5895.00), which includes the cooker, flue kit, drip tray, fuel line kit (with fire valve), and a professional diesel appliance safety certificate. This certificate is essential for marine insurance and BSS compliance. You can also save up to £250 when upgrading through our stove trade-in deals.
