Copper and Stainless Steel Coil Calorifiers

When choosing a Surejust Calorifier for your boats, an important consideration is whether the coils should be made from copper or aluminium. Hot water tanks with copper coils are usually slightly cheaper to buy. However, they are not suitable for use with some heating appliances. Heaters, boilers, or central heating systems that contain aluminium heat exchangers or piping should not be fitted with Surejust Calorifiers containing copper coils. Cooper and aluminium will react and cause corrosion. It is usually the aluminium part that fails first. This will lead to costly repair work for replacing heat exchangers and other parts. For appliances with aluminium heat exchangers, stainless steel coils are the best option.
