At Marine Heating Solutions, we don’t provide “guesstimates.” Every vessel is unique—from the run of the pipework to the specific requirements of the hull—and providing an accurate, written estimate requires a professional technical assessment.
Whether you are looking for a quick technical fix, a routine service, or a complete heating system overhaul, our booking process is designed to gather the technical data required for an accurate outlook. This approach gives us the best possible chance of arriving with the necessary components and significantly reduces the risk of unforeseen complications on the day of the visit.
How We Assess Your Project
To provide a formal, written estimate, we must first conduct a dedicated technical session. This allows us to verify system compatibility, take necessary measurements, and understand the specific site conditions of your vessel.
We offer two primary routes for this assessment:
- Digital Site Assessment (The “Virtual” Option): Conducted via Google Meet, this is a professional assessment used to gather the technical data required for an accurate estimate. It serves as a digital alternative to an initial physical site visit, saving you the cost of travel while moving your project forward immediately.
- Physical Site Visit: A standard on-site engineering visit. While often necessary for complex physical measurements or diagnostics, this involves our standard travel rates.
Pricing and Refund Policy
To ensure our assessments provide maximum value, we operate a transparent pricing structure with a targeted refund option:
- Initial Assessment/Estimate Session: £30 (25min assessment session), or £50 (50min triage session)
- The Refund: The initial fee is fully refundable via a labour credit on your final invoice.
How the Refund Works: The initial assessment fee is credited back to you on the final invoice for physical labour. This applies to any job that exceeds our standard 2-hour minimum physical labour charge. Please note that while the initial session is refundable, any subsequent technical follow-up fees are non-refundable and cannot be credited back. (This is a labour-only refund and cannot be redeemed against travel charges, parts, or appliance purchases).

Booking Constraints & Safety Standards
As a Gas Safe Registered engineer and BSS Examiner, safety and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable. Our assessment process adheres to the following rules:
- Gas & LPG Systems: No diagnostics or technical repair advice for Gas or LPG systems will be provided during digital sessions. These require physical, on-site testing by a qualified professional.
- Liability: Any advice provided during a digital assessment is strictly “Theoretical Only.” The boat owner assumes 100% risk for any physical actions they undertake.
- Warranty: Our standard professional warranties apply exclusively to work physically executed by Marine Heating Solutions on-site.
- Communications: To maintain a professional paper trail and technical accuracy, we do not provide technical advice or estimates via SMS, WhatsApp, or casual email. All project discussions must be handled via a booked session or a physical on-site visit.
